RCDisc Computer Simulators

FMS

FMS is a flight simulator for RC aircraft. The best part about it is that it’s Free! “The Flying-Model-Simulator (FMS) is freeware! The FMS is free available for download in the hope that it may be profitable for many users, but without any warranty, not even the warranty for functioning at all.” It has been around long enough that there are TONS of downloadable aircraft all over the internet as well as utilities and help. If you don’t have the money to pony up for a “real” controller, I use a PC Gamepad ($20 at Wal-Mart). Get one that has the 2 analog joysticks and it will feel and work pretty much like a transmitter, without the transmitter price. My simulator models are tested on version 2.0 beta 7. You can download FMS here under the downloads section..

FMS RCHoverdisc models should be extracted into the FMS directory for models. Typically this would be C:\Program Files\FMS\Model

This will give you a pretty good idea about its flight characteristics. The stalls are actually easier on the real thing as it won't nose over hardly at all and it's a little more stable on the yaw axis. On the other hand, the simulated version won't go faster than the maximum speed. If you do that on the real one the Mylar will collapse and you will lose control of the aircraft. Generally, that's hard to do unless you’re inverted. Either launch it from the runway, or hand launch and give her a workout!

Reflex

Home page is http://www.reflex-sim.de It is a comercial product that looks real good. Davereap on www.rcgroups.com has converted the FMS model to work with Reflex that you can download here. I do not have Reflex so I cannot vouch for it's accuracy or usability, but the reports are good :)
