I couldn't resist getting the 36" Disk. It's the craziest idea...and it really flies like a dream. I would have to agree, that it's a great aileron trainer, but the effect of the ailerons is less than what you might get on a plane because of the sheer size of this thing. The rudder is much more responsive, so for first time flyers, I would suggest you dial back on the rudder at first. For experienced flyers, this thing will turn on a dime and give you 9 cents change! It penetrates the wind very nicely when you point the nose down, and landings are REAL slow...you can sort of hover it down if you point it into the wind and ride the throttle and elevator. I built this for a new flyer (15 years old) and it's the first time he flew anything without taking home a repair project for his old man. Landing after landing...nice and soft. The disc has developed a slow leak that is very elusive to find, but we just blow it up before take-off...no problems there. I put a small brushless outrunner on this thing and used a 3 cell lipo (anything up to a 1500mah works great). You can fly forever at about 1/4 throttle if the air is still and still have tons of power if the wind picks up. I'm now thinking of building a special modified version for aerial photography. Best $25 bucks I've spent in a long time!
